The Volkswagen New Beetle is a compact, 2-door coupe manufactured by German car company Volkswagen. It was first released in 1998 and is heavily based on the original VW Beetle from the 1930s.

Several models of New Beetle are featured in the Gran Turismo series of games:

New Beetle GT[]

The New Beetle GT is a racing version of the New Beetle, featured in Gran Turismo 2. It has a 4-wheel drive configuration.

New Beetle 2.0[]

The New Beetle 2.0 is a car featured in Gran Turismo 2 , Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec and Gran Turismo 4. This 2000 model is front-wheel drive and front engined. It generates 115BHp and 121.5 lb.ft of torque in its standard set-up.

The car can be purchased for 15,930Cr in Gran Turismo 3, making it a popular starter car.

It is available for 25,980Cr in Gran Turismo 4.

New Beetle RSi[]

The 2000 New Beetle is a limited edition version with a 3.2 litre VR6 engine and a 4-Wheel/All-Wheel Drive configuration. It has a standard power output of 224BHp, almost twice what the standard New Beetle produces.

This model appears in Gran Turismo 3, where it can be purchased for 70,000Cr, and in Gran Turismo 4, where it is available for 94,050Cr.

It is also the prize car from the Beginners' League Beetle Cup in Gran Turismo 3.

New Beetle Cup Car[]

The 2000 Beetle Cup Car (GT3)

The New Beetle Cup Car is a racing variant of the 2.0 model with a full racing tune-up and "Beetle Cup" livery. It produces 201BHp and features a front engine, front-wheel drive setup.

This model appears in Gran Turismo 3 and Gran Turismo 4.

In GT3, it is unavailable to buy. Instead it must be won from either the Professional League Clio Trophy or Amateur League German Touring Car Championship.

In GT4, it can be purchased for 50,000Cr.
